Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer in Natural and Artificial Photosynthesis

4:30 Robert L. Burnap
Mutagenesis of proton and substrate pathways of the water oxidation complex of photosystem II

5:00 Artur Osyczka
A new perspective on dimeric function and mechanism of quinol oxidation catalyzed by bc-type complexes

5:30 Fabrice Rappaport
Proton transfer and cycling electrons in the photosynthetic chain

6:00 Giovanni Finazzi
Regulation of electron flow and of the pmf as a response to environmental stress in “green” photosynthetic organisms

Coupled electron and proton transfer reactions lie at the heart of photosynthetic energy conversion. This symposium discusses the mechanisms and regulation of transmembrane electron and proton transport processes as well as elementary reaction steps pertaining to photosynthetic water oxidation.
